NEWS

  • America : Wall Street rose (S&P 500 +0.44%, Nasdaq +0.54%, Dow -0.36%), driven by cautious optimism over a potential U.S.–Iran ceasefire that helped contain risk-off sentiment, although uncertainty remains high due to ongoing negotiation dynamics and oil price volatility. Sentiment was also supported by solid labor data, but inflation risks capped the gains. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield declined to 4.33%, reflecting reduced safe-haven demand amid de-escalation optimism.
  • Asia :  Asian markets were mixed (Nikkei +0.55%, KOSPI +1.36%) amid thin liquidity due to regional holidays (Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite were closed for the Ching Ming Festival). Gains were supported by the technology sector and yen weakness in Japan. However, sentiment remained cautious due to U.S.–Iran geopolitical uncertainty and oil price volatility, leading investors to stay selective.

MARKET UPDATE

  • The JCI declined by -0.53% to 6,989.43, driven by the escalation of Middle East tensions, which pushed up oil prices, pressured the rupiah, and triggered foreign outflows in big-cap stocks. Domestic sentiment (fiscal deficit concerns and rupiah weakness), along with the risk of an MSCI weight reduction, added further selling pressure, keeping the market in a wait-and-see mode.
  • Bond market: The 10-year Indonesian government bond (SUN) yield rose to 6.63%, driven by higher risk premiums amid geopolitical escalation, rising energy prices, and a negative outlook that raised concerns over fiscal conditions and inflation. However, the increase was limited by strong domestic demand and expectations of a stable BI rate, keeping bonds relatively more resilient than equities.
