Cautious Recovery

Global Markets

Global markets remained strong despite volatility, supported by easing tensions between the U.S. and Iran and falling oil prices, which are putting downward pressure on inflation. However, the rally was tempered by the Fed’s hawkish stance, geopolitical uncertainty following the postponement of talks in Switzerland, and investors’ focus on U.S. PCE data, global PMI figures, and the direction of monetary policy, which will determine future market movements.

Indonesian Markets

Indonesia’s financial markets are gradually recovering, supported by the stabilization of the rupiah, an increase in the BI Rate, and MSCI’s emerging market status; however, they remain overshadowed by concerns regarding transparency and foreign investors caution. Nevertheless, investors remain cautious as they await the final results of the MSCI Review on June 23, as well as developments in the rupiah and foreign capital flows, while also focusing on global sentiment driven by U.S. data and the Fed’s stance.

Weekly Highlight on Economic Indicators

Our Take:

JCI increased 2.82% WoW to 6,177, with the IDX’s market capitalization rising 2.51% to Rp10,788 trillion, supported by share buyback programs by Himbara banks, the evaluation of the MBG program, and the stabilization of the rupiah. This reflects a gradual recovery amid global volatility; however, investors remain cautious ahead of the MSCI Review and in light of external sentiment.
